Join us on Sunday 29th March at 10am at our flower farm for our dahlia growing workshop. We will share all our best growing advice so you too can grow gorgeous dahlias this Summer and into Autumn. Not only that - you will also go away with your own choice of dahlia to get you started.

MEET THE TEAM

👋🏻 Hi I’m Amy and I am the founder of Acorn Flower Farm, an artisan flower farm set in a rural village just outside of Ramsey in the Cambridgeshire countryside.

A few facts about me:
🌸 I’m a fifth generation farmer but the first female and the first to grow flowers.
🌸 I’m a boy mum - our house is full of chaos, giggles and muddy boots.
🌸 My favourite flower is a delphinium closely followed by sweet peas, peonies & dahlias.
🌸 I used to run a second hand clothing & vintage shop with my mum. Sustainable businesses for the win!
🌸 I loved Beatrix Potter when I was younger so it makes sense that I’ve ended up working outdoors surrounded by flowers. Now I just need a few rabbits and some ducks!
🌸 My favourite place to escape to is North Norfolk, my Nan lives there and I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last 30 odd years holidaying there. I love that I now get to share those memories with my boys.
🌸 My favourite job to do on the flower farm is probably sowing seeds, so much promise in such a tiny thing. My least favourite job would be tying in sweet peas 🤣- always grateful when I have help with this endless task!

Made the most of the fleeting sunshine yesterday and made a living wreath with what was readily available. Primroses, narcissus, muscari, a mix of foliage from the garden, moss, twiggy stems and dried flowers. It’s certainly not perfect but it was a lovely exercise in not overthinking and just going with the flow.

I then spent this morning planting sweet peas in the polytunnel and uncovering some treasures. A loveliness of ladybirds huddled in the roses and a single alstroemeria blooming.

Enjoying the quieter season and trying to embrace the down time instead of wishing it away.

Flowers, flowers, flowers..

I’m at that point in January where I’m dreaming of buckets of blooms. Lots of work to do to get there first though. Looking through old photos and new seed catalogues is helping to keep up the motivation. 🌸🌸
